One of the most anticipated and sought after events on the David Jones calendar is the Girls Night Out. This fashion and style event is always on the Tuesday night before Mothers Day at selected David Jones department stores around Australia. For those of you who are fortunate to hold a David Jones American Express card, this is the time you save your hard earned pennies and enjoy an abundant night out. After all life is short right? Who knows, you might be one of the lucky few to enjoy a free manicure.
The celebrations kick off at 5pm, and go all the way through to 9pm. At the Elizabeth Street store in Sydney City, be welcomed in with a glass of Canti bubbles; or if you prefer something a little low key such as orange juice or water, then that is there for the taking too. This fashion night out needs to start with a glass of bubbles. Come in a little tired from the day ahead, and already you're starting to feel a wee bit tipsy.
Beauty and skin care advice is available on tap, as well as a fair few drinks with impeccably dressed servers eager to take your empty glass. On the other hand, see some empty glasses near some of the slickest and most popular clothing items. In true Stylish One style, top-ups are available like royalty too.
True style needs to be appreciated, yes? Yes indeed. People were lining up for free 30-minute make up lessons from Laura Mercier, as well as skin care and beauty consultations with free samples from the likes of Jo Malone. La Prairie's offer was irresistible, hence understandably the long queues to enjoy a free five-minute eye massage was too good to be true. No wonder why you'd be kept waiting in style for that little treat.
The Girls Night Out at David Jones would not be so without the fashion catwalk events that commence at 6pm, and run every half an hour thereafter. The winter edit fashion parade kicked off the event, and of course some of the top designers came out for show and tell. Dion Lee, Ginger & Smart, Camilla & Marc and Easton Pearson to name made appearances; and David Jones American Express cardholders enjoyed fairly decent discounts on some top fashion labels, as well as beauty products to name.
I also enjoyed the chocolate Baileys, in addition to listening to some live French music while shopping. I brought my mum a funky diffuser, and also went for some Philosophy skin care products to sharpen that style a little. The goodies that came as bonuses with all purchases over $50 for David Jones American Express cardholders was divine. I will enjoy my Philosophy skin care samples, and as I purchased two gift packs (total purchase came to $74.95); I was given some People Plants hand cream in its full size, even though the staff member mentioned that "normally I cannot give this out with gift sets, but for you I will." Pretty cool abundance.
This is a night to dress up and put on your great clothes. A silk Leona Edmiston dress did the trick, yet the nail polish was a little tacky after an intense day of consulting, to head straight to DJ's after leaving the office for a fun night out. Oh, and I also scored a free set of stylish David Jones candle holders with my purchase additionally.
On the Market Street end, the canapes also comprised of some beautiful sandwiches, and there were an abundance of sweet tastings in the food hall area. Pistachio turkish delight with a cashmere scarf anyone? Yes please. And let's wash it down with a new pleated skirt. Amen. Fashion police, please arrest me for spilling the beans on this.
The next best thing to the Vogue Fashion Night Out event in Sydney.
