It must be a generational thing, or perhaps many of today's kids are fussy when it comes to style and dressing up. I belong to generation Y, and when our generation were kids, fashion did not even have a thought. Our parents dressed us up in whatever, and the latter is true with a poorer upbringing.
Today, primary school children have the fanciest iPhone (and mind you iPad) covers, and many of them know their Revlon to their OPI. It's interesting. Perhaps...are the youngsters of today growing up too quickly? Does elegance need to have an entry level age limit? Hopefully this article will captivate and give you some food for thought in this area.
A kid friendly blazer
Without further ado, some of the top kids clothing trends to watch out for...
Across both genders. Perhaps we have private schools to be held responsible for this style trend. Today you're seeing more kids in kindergarten wearing blazers with their school trousers or dress. Yes they look adorable, but is this an act of cruelty? In past generations, our parents had to wear blazers at school the moment they left pre-school too. Yours truly went to a public high school, and in my senior years, wearing a blazer was a given, although many of us just wore a jumper and got off the hook...everyday.
Even at some not so formal parties, you are seeing little kids wearing suits, and there seems to be no complaints about it. That daggy jumper just wont cut it anymore.
We are talking about dresses that take at least a few hours to iron. Yes, multiple pleats. And the types of dresses that only belong in the dry cleaning pile. So pretty with a bow either stitched on the dress, or used within a ponytail. Of course, the child in question would be wearing stockings (white generally comes to mind) with black buckle shoes. Yes, that same little girl would be wearing make up and nail polish with it.
3. Luxury Brands
Once upon a time, luxury clothing brands such as Burberry, Industrie and Polo Ralph Lauren to name used to belong in the adults league only. Today, such luxury clothing brands produce lines of their clothing products for kids too. That's right, junior can now enjoy wearing a Polo Ralph Lauren polo top with jeans and a jacket to match.

Then again, some school uniforms are pleasant to wear today in some cases. Who knows, one day we might see our school kids heading to school in their uniform with a Louis Vuitton bag in tow.
