10 Must Have Pieces For A Timeless Wardrobe

The seasons will come and go, but if you invest in timeless pieces for your wardrobe then you’ll always be stylish and set for any occasion. They are fundamental and basic, yet the 10 pieces in this article form the foundation of any stylish and functional wardrobe.

1. Black pumps



Lets be honest ladies - who can actually survive without a nice set of black heels?

And if you can survive without them, you really shouldn’t ever need to!

These babies will be there for you on weddings, sorority functions, first dates and even first jobs.

Keep them simple and elegant. Make sure their not too pointy, and keep the heel 2-3 inches, but make sure they're comfortable.

2. Basic Cardigans



You know those nights where you're not sure if you should pack jumper or not? Well a basic cardigan solves that issue by allowing you to simply roll it up and slide it in your handbag.

Get a mix of cashmere, durable cotton and even heavy wool knits if your budget allows. Pick up one that is a solid base colour (white or black), one with a pattern, and one that suits your personality.

You mightn’t start your shopping trip looking for a scarf, however if the cold weather is setting in it's almost a given that you’ll return home with one. So with that in mind, make it a conscious choice to choose the right scarf as it can make any outfit look far more stylish & complete.

They may be expensive, and look like you’ll only wear them in the snow, however a trench coat is well worth the investment - especially on the next cold, windy and wet morning! The right trench coat will last for years or even decades so make sure you invest in the right one.

5. Ballet Flats

The wonderful thing about ballet flats is that they’re a classic staple in any wardrobe. What’s even better is that you can usually get them for under $50!

Rather than spending a fortune on a fancy pair of leather flats, grab 2 pairs of cheaper ones as from my experience they all wear out within a year.

6. A white dress shirt

Whether you're working, going to interviews, or just want to look great for a nice dinner, then your white dress shirt is your new best friend. But don’t go cheap here. You want a shirt that will hold its shape and will still look as great in 3 years as it does when you buy it.

I’d suggest splurging on a slim-cut shirt from a nice label such as Ralph Lauren or Wish. This way whenever you need it, it’s there for you.

7. Brown or tan knee high boots

These boots are virtually endless in the number of ways which you can wear them. Throw them with jeans, shorts, skirts, or even a dress and they’ll look stunning.

When choosing your pair make sure that they will blend and compliment any outfit. So go simple and choose a basic, yet classy pair. I’d also suggest keeping your heel to less than 2” so they’ll be comfortable for you to wear all day or night.

8. A perfect blazer

Nothing screams power and confidence better than a well fitted blazer. Whether you’re going to an interview, or are looking to impress on a ‘serious’ date, your blazer will be your go-to piece.

Before you go for the super popular shrunken or oversized blazer, make sure you have a perfect fitting classic styled one in your wardrobe. Make sure the you invest in a trip to the tailor (approximately $100) to get it adjusted so it first you like a glove.

9. Dark wash boot cut jeans

Ok so they aren’t the most modern cut for jeans, but they are an absolute classic. Their ideal for those nice dinners where you want to look great, but not too attractive. Plus they're great for casual days at work.

Avoid any styles with fading or embellishments as they don’t age gracefully. Oh, and make sure you get them hemmed to fit your perfectly.
