With the sad passing of fashion mogul Oscar De La Renta, it is now time to have a look at the life of one of the World’s most famous fashion legends.

With his career ranging over 50 years, he has worked with some of the most famous and glamorous celebrities and royalty of different decades including Audrey Hepburn, Princess Diana and Sarah Jessica-Parker.

His love of fashion began when he studied under Christobel Balenciaga in Spain and later worked for Belmain and Lanvin in Paris. After getting a range of experience from these wonderful designers, he launched his own label in 1965 creating opulence and elegance throughout every outfit.

De La Renta made his name early on as the favourite designer of US first Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Many first ladies followed suit, including Nancy Reagan, Lauran Bush and Hilary Clinton. Only weeks ago, current first lady Michelle Obama wore one of his flattering cocktail creations.

His designs were introduced to a new generation when they appeared regularly on the hit show Sex and the City. One whole episode in season six was dedicated to his talent and his wonderful pink number worn by Carrie Bradshaw. We also see one of his classic wedding dresses in the first Sex and the City movie.
